The sessions were led by the Center\u2019s president, historian and political scientist Dr. Mohammad Walid Youssef, with the participation of department heads, geopolitical division leaders, and a number of attendees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The discussion was moderated by Dr. Imad Ghannoum, lecturer at the Lebanese University, who emphasized in his opening remarks the importance of re-examining history through an objective lens, free from a priori ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Ghannoum praised Dr. Youssef\u2019s intellectual and scholarly contributions, noting that he \u201cinterrogates the past and scrutinizes the numbers of history without yielding to bias, stripping away the sanctity often projected onto human historical figures in Islamic heritage.\u201d<br>He added that Dr. Youssef exposes the political motives embedded in historical events, applying a rigorous scientific methodology, firmly establishing himself as a major scholar in the field of political and historical studies, offering groundbreaking insights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Youssef then took the floor to present the foundations of his critique of Islamic political history, stressing the importance of examining its intricate details objectively. He underscored that critically engaging with this history would uncover solutions to the crises and conflicts currently afflicting the Middle East, North Africa, and the broader Islamic world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An open discussion followed, during which participants shared their perspectives and asked questions, which Dr. Youssef addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is worth noting that this discussion series will not be limited to Islamic political history.
