These predictions were detailed in the Center\u2019s <em>2024 <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/eng.icgers.com\/index.php\/2025\/02\/21\/first-annual-geopolitical-report-2024\/\">Annual Geopolitical Report<\/a>, released on February 21, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a televised phone interview with NBC on July 11, 2025, Trump declared, <em>\u201cWe\u2019re sending weapons to NATO, and NATO is paying for those weapons, a hundred percent[\u2026]\u201d<\/em><a href=\"#_edn1\" id=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/a><em><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just one day prior, on July 10, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced during the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference in Rome that Germany is prepared to purchase U.S.-made Patriot air defense systems for delivery to Ukraine.<a href=\"#_edn2\" id=\"_ednref2\">[ii]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>French President Emmanuel Macron echoed similar sentiments on July 14, stating: <em>\u201cTo be free in this world, you must be feared. To be feared, you must be powerful[\u2026].\u201d<\/em> Macron has outlined plans for a big increase in defence spending, warning Europe\u2019s liberty is facing a \u201cgreater threat\u201d than at any time since the end of World War II.
