Daniel Noboa was re-elected in Ecuador in February 2025,[1] followed by Jos\u00e9 Antonio Kast&#8217;s victory in Chile in December 2025,[2] Laura Fern\u00e1ndez Delgado winning in Costa Rica in February 2026,[3] Keiko Fujimori&#8217;s win in Peru in June 2026,[4] and Abelardo de la Espriella&#8217;s election in Colombia in June 2026.[5]\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These developments corroborate the observations made by Dr. Mohammad Walid Youssef, President of ICGER, in his analytical report published on February 13, 2025, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/eng.icgers.com\/index.php\/2026\/02\/13\/annual-geopolitical-report-2025-2\/\">2025 annual geopolitical report<\/a>. In that report, he suggested that the Americas are likely to shift towards the political right in the forthcoming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Youssef noted in the study: \u201cThe Americas currently maintain a political balance. Two right-wing leaders have recently been elected (Donald Trump in the U.S. in 2024 and Javier Milei in Argentina in 2023) while left-wing presidents such as Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexico, Jos\u00e9 Ra\u00fal Mulino in Panama, Gustavo Petro in Colombia, and Luis Arce in Bolivia have also been chosen.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He stated that this equilibrium would persist throughout the Americas in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhenever the right gains power in one country, such as in Canada, where the Conservatives are expected to win the upcoming parliamentary elections, the left will take power in another country as part of a complex balancing act.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He continued: \u201cThis balance and division will persist in the societal structures across the Americas until the division is eventually resolved in favor of the right.
