The Left Party came third with approximately 9.3%, followed by the Greens with around 8.8% and the Social Democratic Party (SPD) with 8.5%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) hovered around the 5% electoral threshold, while the Free Democratic Party (FDP) failed to secure representation in the state parliament after receiving only about 2.2% of the vote.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The election was also marked by historically high voter turnout, reaching approximately 78%.<a href=\"#_edn1\" id=\"_ednref1\">[i]<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Youssef had previously noted in the <a href=\"https:\/\/eng.icgers.com\/index.php\/2026\/02\/13\/annual-geopolitical-report-2025-2\/\">2025 Annual Geopolitical Report \u2013 Europe<\/a> that:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEurope\u2019s commitment and propensity towards military strategies, along with increased defense expenditure and the measures undertaken by European nations in this context during 2025, are expected to impact their economies. Certain nations may confront risks of insolvency and expanding budget deficits, which could lead their populations to favor nationalist right-wing parties.
