The Rise and Falls of Nations and States: The Civilizational Decline of the Islamic World

This study seeks to explain the rise and fall of states through an equation that links military power, industry, the economy, and political organization. It is grounded in the hypothesis that the backwardness of the Islamic world was not the result of a single factor, but rather the outcome of a prolonged imbalance in the relationship between military spending, domestic production, and state-building.

The study demonstrates that states rise when military expenditure is transformed into a driver of industry and economic growth, and decline when it becomes a financial burden that drains resources and deepens external dependency. Through a comparative historical analysis, the study attempts to uncover the structural causes that led to the decline of the Islamic world and its gradual exit from the center of historical agency.
